Coach Peterson has also served in a variety of roles to help advance the greater collegiate cycling mission in America, including as an elected member of the USA Cycling Collegiate Sport Committee, the USA Cycling Board of Directors, and as a liaison for many local, regional, and national cycling initiatives.Peterson has worked both on and off the bike with Olympians, World Champions, and riders that have competed at the highest level of the sport, as well as with those who are new to cycling. Under Peterson, the cycling staff has committed to developing riders as complete athletes, regardless of their focus discipline(s), which has paid dividends in creating a well-rounded, successful, and cohesive team.Peterson’s coaching philosophy is school first: keeping student-cyclists focused on the fact that they are students first, and that being a responsible citizen and community member is just as important as being a top-notch cyclist. This philosophy has contributed to the team’s success in earning nine USA Cycling Club of the Year awards as well as 14 consecutive Collegiate Track National Championships, ten Collegiate Road Championships, seven Cyclocross championships, seven BMX Championships, and seven D1 Team Omnium awards.Peterson’s educational background includes a BS in Organizational Leadership from Purdue University (1988) and an MA in Educational Leadership from Butler University (1997).With 35+ years of cycling experience and 30+ years of teaching/education experience, Dean Peterson enters his 14th season at the helm of the most successful program in collegiate cycling history.He is involved in nearly aspect of Park management including day-to-day operations, facility upkeep and improvement, marketing, and administrative tasks. Kubancsek's role also includes facilities and operations management for the Indy Cycloplex, an Indianapolis city park with events and programming in all cycling disciplines.As a unique sport in collegiate athletics, cycling requires unique and education-based sports information, which Kubancsek oversees in conjunction with MU's SID and the rest of the coaching staff.He also pioneered the effort to launch collegiate cycling's first-ever student mechanic program. As a USA Cycling-certified Race Mechanic, Kubancsek manages the team’s equipment fleet of bikes, wheels and components in five disciplines, assists the athletes in managing their personal equipment, and provides mechanical support during race events.Kubancsek’s skills in logistics management, marketing/sports information, equipment management, sponsorship liaison, and facilities and administrative operations have contributed to the team’s seven-straight D1 Team Omnium Championships as well as the program's continued success in student rentention, graduation, and community engagement. He has traveled with the team to nearly all conference- and national-level races in support of the team’s championship efforts.While in school, Kubancsek raced for the team on the road and trail while earning a summa cum laude B.A.A 2013 graduate of Marian University, Kubancsek serves at the Director of Operations for the Marian University Cycling program, managing nearly all aspects of the day-to-day business of the team and keeping track of all the program's moving parts.Norman Cycling Center and Power Booster training programs. As a USA Cycling-certified Level 3 coach, Coach Hoop oversees the training programs and development of athletes across all disciplines of the team, while supporting all other aspects of team operations and management.He also served as the student manager for Power Booster and participated with the show choir. While in school at Marian University, Hoopingarner earned a degree in Sports Performance while racing in four of the five collegiate disciplines (road, cyclocross, mountain bike, and track) and earned three National Championship team titles with the Cyclocross team.A 2015 graduate of Marian University, Coach Hoopingarner ("Hoop") serves as the Director of Performance and Assistant Head Coach for Marian Cycling.
